The Department for Transport has announced that it is to provide £34m of funding to build the first phase of the Bristol ‘Metrobus’ bus rapid transit (BRT) network.

The funding for the BRT scheme will provide a new bus service from the south west of the city to the centre along a new 2.5 mile segregated busway from the Long Ashton park-and-ride site. The dedicated busway will follow former rail routes and will include a new bridge over the Bristol to Portishead rail line. The...
