Air quality concerns prompt HA to propose 60mph limit on M3

The Highways Agency is consulting on plans to impose a 60mph speed limit on a three-mile section of the M3 in Surrey because of air pollution concerns.

The reduced limit will be introduced between junctions 3 and 4 near Farnborough as part of a £174m project to convert 13 miles of the road (jctns 2 to 4a) into a smart motorway with all lane running, whereby the hard shoulder is converted to a permanent running lane.
