A PLAN to introduce mandatory 60mph speed limits on a 31-mile section of the M1 because of air quality concerns could be the first of a number of such schemes on the motorway network, the Highways Agency said this week.
A consultation has begun on introducing the lower limit on a section of the M1 in Derbyshire and Yorkshire between junctions 28 (the A38 intersection close to Mansfield) and 35a (the A616 intersection north of Sheffield).
