Road signs and markings will have to be clear and possibly standardised across Europe to facilitate self-steering vehicles, according to industry experts.
The report by EuroRAP and Euro NCAP says that by 2025 half the cars on Europe’s roads could be capable of ‘reading’ signs and marking. But the technology will not function well if markings and signs are “worn out, inconsistent or confusing”.
