Viewers of the BBC’s This Week late night political programme last week may have been extremely wary of getting on a bike the next morning. “With six fatalities on London’s streets in the last two weeks and – listen to this – 3,200 cyclists killed or seriously injured last year, cycling has become a dangerous business,” said presenter Andrew Neil, opening a discussion of the topic.
