Shropshire cuts rural bus network

Shropshire Council plans to scrap its network of rural bus services marketed as Shropshire Link because of budgetary pressures. Shropshire says the services carried 33,375 passengers in 2012/13 at a cost of £666,427 – a subsidy of £19.96 per passenger trip. “Some individual trips have cost up to £150 in subsidy,” said Shropshire’s highways and transport manager, Ron Buzzacott.
