Link road go-ahead fails to quell dispute

Transport secretary Patrick McLoughlin has given final approval to East Sussex County Council’s controversial Bexhill-Hastings Link road, clearing the way for construction to begin this summer.

The DfT will provide £56.9m towards the £91.9m cost of the 3.5-mile single carriageway road between the A259 in Bexhill and the B2092 Queensway in Hastings. The road will open up land in north-east Bexhill for development.
