Leics presses on with controversial bus lanes

Leicestershire County Council is pressing ahead with a DfT-backed £5m bus priority project, despite opposition from thousands of local residents and the local MP.

The council’s cabinet this week approved the A426 Bus Corridor project, which aims to improve conditions for bus travel between Leicester and settlements such as Blaby and Lutterworth to the south. In March the DfT awarded £2.56m of Better Bus Area funding to the project.
