Here’s how high-speed rail could cut CO2 emissions

Whilst it may be highly contentious to suggest that motorway tolls could be a way to boost the cut in carbon dioxide emissions as a result of building HS2 (‘Motorway tolls could boost HS2 CO2 cut’ LTT 28 Sep), I find it far more interesting to read in the same report that serving city centre stations rather than parkway stations could save up to 7%.

I would have liked to see this carbon saving theme investigated more widely in a number of other areas of HS2’s current plans...
