Cycling programmes need to target less active people

The £43m Cycling City and Towns programme will only have improved public health if the fifth of less active people open to cycling regularly have been successfully targeted, according to research for the Department for Transport.

A paper by Nick Cavill (Cavill Associates) and Jenny Buckland (DfT) says that there is little potential public health benefit from encouraging the 39% of Cycling City and Towns residents who are already moderately active or active to cycle or cycle more....
