There are three big questions raised when studying how the international experience relates to the UK levelling off of, and recent decline in, car use. The first is whether other developed countries are showing the same pattern. The second is what is happening in the developing countries where initial levels of car ownership and use are so much lower. The third is whether these two possibly quite different trends will affect each other in the future.
