Bus lay-by policy queried

Councillors in Flintshire in North Wales have asked to see their authority’s policy on the removal of bus lay-bys, amid controversy over traffic impacts.

The Association of Transport Co-ordinating Officers in Wales has confirmed that lay-bys at bus stops on 30mph roads are being eradicated, reducing delays to buses caused by waiting for motorists to give way. The RAC Foundation claims, however, that the practice could negatively affect safety and carbon emissions.
