Planners should be taught the principles of good bus networks

I was fascinated by the letter from Peter Wiltshire, which illustrated a hypothesis that transport planners take a very simplified view when it comes to providing facilities for bus passengers (Letters LTT 30 Jan).

We need a complete change of attitude by planners towards bus services. Most town centres are planned for the benefit of all road traffic and as there are many more cars than buses, town centre roads are planned mainly for the benefit of car drivers. The result is that measures to...
