Sunderland Strategic Transport Corridor phase 2, Sunderland

The Sunderland Strategic Transport Corridor phase 2 has been approved by the DfT and been given programme entry status. The project aims to create a gateway into the city with a link to the A19 and a bridge over the River Wear to the city centre and the Port of Sunderland. Phase 2 (of five) is the bridge over the river (circled in red, above) that will "alleviate congestion and contribute to regeneration", according to the city council.
