£4m Ladbroke Grove fine intended as a ‘constant and lasting reminder’
Network Rail has been fined £4m for Railtrack’s failures which caused the Paddington rail crash in 1999.
Delivering his verdict last week, Mr Justice Bean said the fine was intended as a “constant and lasting reminder to the
management of the company and to others involved in the railways of the paramount importance of safety and to prompt attention to any identifiable risk”.
