Southampton to cut 200 posts to balance budget

Southampton City Council will axe up to 200 posts to balance next year’s budget. Up to 99 full time jobs will be affected by the cuts totalling £13.8m in 2012/13. A further 100 vacant posts will not be replaced as a result of the council’s efficiency drive. The council seeks to minimise the number of compulsory redundancies through early retirements and voluntary redundancies.
