Councils press for traffic enforcement powers

The Local Government Association is pressing the DfT to reconsider its decision not to give local authorities outside London powers to enforce moving traffic contraventions.

Transport minister Norman Baker announced in November that the Government would not implement Part 6 of the Traffic Management Act 2004 allowing councils to enforce infringements such as banned turns and yellow box junction offences.
