Pakistan’s film lots turned into car lots

Film studios in Pakistan are in such a desperate financial state that they are renting out their exterior stages as car parking areas for impounded vehicles.

The policies that were introduced by General Zia ul-Haq in the 1980s has had a catastrophic and long lasting effect on film making in the country.

Pakistan had boasted 750 cinema theatres in 1990 (even more before then), but that number had declined to 175 by the early 2000s....
