Brent to ‘buy back’ permits

North-west London council to bring in emissions-based charges

The London Borough of Brent is set to offer financial incentives to persuade residents to give up parking permits. The policy is part of a wider revamp to residents’ parking that would also see the council introduce emissions-based charging.

Under the plans residents who give up a permit and agree not to purchase another one for at least two years would receive a voucher worth £200 towards the cost of joining a car club, or purchasing a bicycle or Oyster travelcard.
