Northumberland station investment

Improved parking forms a key element of a £1.5m investment in upgrading rail infrastructure in Northumberland.

The Department for Transport funding will provide a new station at Belford, where there are currently no passenger facilities, and be used to integrate bus and rail services at Morpeth.

There will also be improved parking at the 50-space Cramlington and 76-space Alnmouth car parks.

Northumberland County Council said that work would start in early 2011....
