£9m savings win Westminster award

Westminster City Council has won an award for the savings it made via introducing cashless street parking last month. The central London borough won the Efficiency and Modernisation Category at the Local Government Awards on 25 March.

Coin-accepting meters and pay & display machines have been removed from Westminster’s streets — the final ones vanish this month. These have been replaced by a combination of pay-by-phone and pay & display machines which a accept chip & PIN...
