Don’t drop a clanger when enforcing dropped kerbs

Your January issue reported on the matter of contraventions at dropped kerbs and on the views of the AA’s Paul Watters on the need for signing.

A fact that seems to have been missed by many is that the law now is no different outside London than within London. In London powers to enforce this contravention were provided in Section 14 of the London Local Authorities and Transport for London Act 2003. This provided, in 14(5), for enforcement without the need for any traffic signs.
