Arriva buys open access operator Grand Central

Deutsche Bahn-owned Arriva has acquired open access operator Grand Central which runs seven return train services per day on the East Coast Main Line between Sunderland and London, and between Bradford/Halifax and London.

The acquisition complements Arriva’s plans to launch an open access network on the East Coast and West Coast Main Lines through it ownership of prospective open access company Alliance which is led by Grand Central founder Ian Yeowart.
