First makes £27m investment in EMV ticketing revolution

FirstGroup has announced that it will invest £27m in new dual smartcard/EMV ticketing technology for its 5,000 strong bus fleet in England, outside London. The new ticket machines are expected to make the company the first bus operator in the UK to offer Europay, MasterCard and VISA payment across its fleet. Transport for London is currently working on plans to install the technology on its entire network next year.
