Stricken air travellers turn to East Coast trains

Delays to flights saw intercity train operator East Coast carry a third more passengers during the first bout of snow. Between November 28 and December 2, East Coast carried 34% more passengers from Scotland to London than in the same five days of the previous year.

Despite the sub-zero temperatures, East Coast ran around two thirds of its usual number of trains on an amended timetable....
