Work progresses well on new Workington North railway station

Network Rail says that work is progressing well on building a temporary rail station to serve the communities ‘cut off’ on the north side of the River Derwent in Workington following the recent devastating floods.

The new station is being built on waste-land just over half a mile to the north of the existing station, reconnecting the two halves of the town that have been cut off following flood damage to the footbridges and road bridges in the area.
