Stansted expansion debate blocked

Campaign group Friends of the Earth is seeking clarification on whether or not hearings into the East of England regional spatial strategy, due in September, will be allowed to discuss the effects of the expansion of Stansted Airport. A spokesman for FoE said that Alan Richardson, the strategy inspector, had told a preliminary meeting last week that the planned growth of the airport would not have a bearing on the outcome of the hearings as it was already national policy that had been laid out...
