Sellafield a key driver in Cumbria’s rail devolution

The Sellafeild  nuclear plant in West Cumbria could play a vital part in boosting the Cumbrian Coast railway under plans being developed with Cumbria County Council.

Cumbria is at the forefront of the DfT’s rail devolution drive (LTT 17 Feb) and the council’s soon-to-retire rail officer John Kitchen outlined the work programme at LTT’s ‘Devolving rail to the regions’ conference in Manchester last week.
