Council hits back as green groups urge Baker to block £123m road

Lancashire County Council this week rebutted claims by environmental groups that the council has misled the DfT about key details of the proposed £123m Heysham-M6 Link Road. 

In February, the DfT granted ‘supported pool’ status to the road that will link the motorway at junction 34 to Morecambe and Heysham port and reduce traffic in the north of Lancaster. The Department has pledged £111m towards the scheme, with Lancashire providing £12m.
