Councils see budget for small-scale transport improvements halved

Transport Authorities in England are assessing their  investment programmes in the light of savage cutbacks to the local transport settlement announced last week.

Many authorities will see their integrated transport block allocation – used to fund small-scale transport schemes – reduced by at least 50% compared to their original 2010/11 allocations. The comparison is muddied by the fact that the 2010/11 allocations were subject to in-year cuts.
