Area-wide 40mph limits mooted for Lake District

Area-wide 40mph speed limits could be implemented across much of the Lake District as part of a new strategy to deter car use in the National Park.

The idea is part of a new transport strategy for the park drawn up by consultant Steer Davies Gleave for Cumbria County Council and the Lake District National Park Authority.
