DfT’s public transport ticketing vision ‘undeliverable’ say bus firms

Bus operators have voiced scepticism about the DfT’s draft ticketing strategy that aims to promote ‘smart’ ticketing media such as smartcards, mobile phones, and debit and credit cards (LTT 28 Aug).

Responding to the consultation that ended last week, industry association the Confederation of Passenger Transport says the DfT’s plans are “undeliverable” in their present form. Furthermore, it says ‘smart’ ticketing will offer no benefits over paper...
