Islington clamps down on idlers

The London Borough of Islington is to issue fixed penalty notices to motorists who refuse to switch off their vehicle’s engine when stationary. Officers from the council’s public protection noise and pollution projects team will target known problem sites. Legislation requires enforcement officers to warn motorists in the first instance but they can then issue £20 fixed penalty notices to drivers who refuse to switch their engine off.
