There are innovative traffic management techniques aimed at reducing traffic disruption and improving the efficiency of the road network.

New ways of combating delays such as road-work permitting schemes, lane rental and overrunning charges.

At junctions new practices are being piloted including the removal of traffic lights and countdown for pedestrian crossings.

There is an emphasis on 'network management', requiring highway authorities to adopt enforcement strategies such as moving traffic offences, parking and bus lane enforcement.

Attendance is essential for all those involved in traffic management.
