There has been a significant fall in the use of garages to park cars, placing pressure on the kerbside and grass verges, says the RAC Foundation’s new study on parking. At the same time there has been a rise in the number of front gardens being paved over and turned into drives. While the number of dwellings has gone up by 180,000 a year, the number of garages has remained constant, the report notes.
