DNA alarm system targets fuel thieves

A portable alarm system that both videos and marks fuel thieves with an indelible DNA based marking dye, has been approved by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO). The system has achieved ACPO’s Secured by Design crime prevention initiative accreditation.

Kilmarnock-based PID Systems developed the Alarmed and Traceable Technology Solutions System (AATTSS). It consists of a battery-powered wireless device, which removes the need for an electric supply or telephone line.
