DfT gives green light to 20mph sign-only zones

In a change of policy, the government has come out in favour of 20mph speed restriction schemes that do not require traffic calming measures.

Local councils are being encouraged to introduce 20mph schemes into residential streets and other roads where cycle and pedestrian traffic is high, such as around schools, shops and parks.
