Having regularly used (and indeed abused) film and song titles to headline my articles, I thought that I’d try something different this month. In plundering the Sermon on the Mount for this purpose, I’m obviously taking Jesus’ words badly out of context: but then I’m by no means the first person to do so. The point I’m trying to draw attention to is that what count in street design are the results – the ‘outcomes’ – not the names.

He is a past chair of the Transport Planning Society, a former trustee of Living Streets, and a committee member of the Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety.
