Suffolk County Council is to press the Highways Agency to fund a road costing at least £100m to ease congestion on the A12 in Lowestoft. Suffolk commissioned consultant WSP to investigate a new crossing of Lake Lothing, a saltwater lake in the town. WSP costs an eastern crossing at £94m (benefit:cost ratio of 1.6:1) and a central crossing at £117m (a BCR of 0.36:1).
