Southend and Thurrock want combined authority

Thurrock and Southend on Sea councils want to establish a combined authority (CA) to oversee transport and economic development for their areas. 

The two unitaries currently work with Essex County Council in the Thames Gateway South Essex Partnership but Essex is withdrawing from the partnership on 1 April.  

Thurrock and Southend are committed to forming a new partnership and their preferred model is a combined authority.
