South Yorkshire PTE has outlined how a high-speed rail station at Meadowhall in Sheffield could become a major transport interchange for the conurbation.
Meadowhall, four miles north-east of Sheffield city centre and close to the M1, is home to one of the country’s biggest out-of-town shopping centres. It already boasts an interchange station served by rail, tram and buses and HS2 Ltd has proposed a high-speed rail station on the West Midlands to Leeds line.
