Additional aviation capacity demanded but need for high-speed rail questioned

As the business community’s propaganda blitzkrieg urging the Government to build more airports in the south-east of England continues, one paper suggests the Treasury is trying to apply the brakes to high-speed rail.

The need for more aviation capacity and the proposed high-speed rail link between London and Birmingham (and thence points north) continued to vie for supremacy as the most reported on transport issue of the day throughout May.
