SWESTRANS, the South West of Scotland regional transport partnership, is conducting a ‘root and branch’ review of the area’s bus network amid mounting cost pressures.
Lead officer John Nelson told LTT that about 85% of bus services in Dumfries and Galloway are subsidised and the in-house review would inform the award of new contracts for three-quarters of the tendered network in April 2012.
