ORR optimistic about Christmas works

The Office of Rail Regulation is optimistic that Network Rail will complete its Christmas engineering plans on time this year, but have not ruled out the possibility of any overruns occurring.

Engineering works overran Last Christmas and into the New Year by several days. Unscheduled closures on parts of the West Coast Main Line by four days - and at Liverpool Street Station, and Glasgow’s Shields Junction, led operators Virgin and One Railway to complain to the ORR.
