Northern Ireland scheme fails to cover its overheads

Revenue raised from parking fines in Northern Ireland has failed to cover overheads, the Department of Regional Development (DRD) has revealed. Nearly 126,000 penalty charge notices (PCNs) were issued in Northern Ireland in 2011, according to the DRD figures. Since October 2006 £22.5m has been raised through fines. However, a total of £36.1m was paid to parking enforcement and car park services contractor NSL Services.
