North Lanarkshire scraps parking plan
Proposals to introduce parking charges in North Lanarkshire town centres have been abandoned by North Lanarkshire Council. The consultations on the proposals for charges had revealed strong opposition from businesses, traders and residents in Airdrie and Coatbridge.
Labour council leader Jim McCabe said a 26% drop in the capital grant the council received from the Scottish Government, equivalent to a £15m cut, made the scheme impossible to finance....
