Shapps backs retail guru Portas’s parking message
Ministers have endorsed retail adviser Mary Portas’s call for councils to ensure their town centre parking policies are motorist-friendly.
The government is preparing a formal response to the Portas Review but housing and local government minister Grant Shapps has launched a competition to choose 12 towns to become ‘Portas Pilots’, with the winners sharing a £1m grant to turn around their high streets.
