Emissions-based charge in Charnwood
Charnwood Borough Council is to introduce parking charges based on vehicle emissions for staff using its car parks. The Leicestershire local authority is to use the Department for Transport vehicle excise duty scale based on national vehicle tax bands.
The move is to be implemented on 1 July. A daily rate of £1.50 will be replaced by a scale running from free for Band ‘A’ cars to £5.70 for those vehicles with the highest emissions in Band ‘M’.
