Advice backs Portsmouth-style 20mph limits
The DfT has reversed its policy on 20mph speed limits by endorsing their implementation across large areas of residential streets without the need for accompanying traffic calming measures.
The new policy is outlined in a letter to highway authorities proposing a number of changes to Circular 1/06 Setting local speed limits. The changes also include revised advice on reviewing rural single carriageway speed limits.
