Fantasy island - Dutch style

The idea of building“floating” apartments is making waves in Holland. The Citadel, designed by Dutch architect Koen Olthuis, will form part of the New Water scheme in Westland. This is “de-poldered” land — previously drained land which will be allowed to flood again.

The apartments will be 40ft tall, making them appear to float on the water.

Instead of driveways the flats will have boat moorings. But the car has not been forgotten. Vehicle access to the Citadel...
